Please note that we will be retiring this old site on Tuesday, August 25th, 2015.
At that point, the URL for will bring you to our new site currently hosted at We encourage you to visit the new site now and see a more recent set of updated gene annotations and MANY more Pseudomonas strains.
Pseudomonas Genome Database - Get Involved

Get Involved!

Please note: At this time, we are accepting annotation submissions only for Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains PAO1 and LESB58. While we are not currently accepting annotation updates for these genomes from individual researchers in the community, we may receive updates from the associated genome centers. If you wish to make an update, please contact the genome sequencing center first.

As P. aeruginosa research progresses, we must continue to update this genome annotation for it to remain a useful resource describing the blueprint of this organism. PseudoCAP therefore obtained funds from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to further develop and maintain this P. aeruginosa genome database, producing a continually updated version of the genome annotation. We invite any researcher who is interested in participating in PseudoCAP to contact us about making a submission of a suggested annotation update. Direct submissions through the website are made through a web-based form system we developed

Submit an annotation update using our Quick Submission form.

  • Acknowledgements can be viewed in the updates log. They are given to all researchers who have made submissions to the database.

  • All submissions are subject to initial review. Submissions of annotation updates therefore do not appear immediately in the database. Further review every 2 years at the Pseudomonas meeting is proposed to ensure that there is suitable feedback from the Pseudomonas research community regarding gene names, etc....

  • The database is continually being modified to expand its flexibility and to allow for different kinds of annotations (i.e. promoter sites) not previously annotated. Check the What's New section of this website for the latest changes to the database.

Considerations when submitting a suggested annotation update, that should be addressed in your submission (these are required for your web-based submission):

  • Who are the proposed authors of the suggested annotation change ?

  • What is the contact information for the corresponding author of the change?

  • Is there a literature reference or genbank accession associated with this proposed annotation change (e.g. PubMed ID)?

  • Is the change based on a functional study of P. aeruginosa PAO1, another P. aeruginosa strain, another Pseudomonas species, another organism, or based on a computational analyses? We indicate this in the database by specifying a product name confidence.

  • Clearly summarize the basis of the proposed change, in terms of the experiment(s) that led to this change.

  • Emphasize any experimental evidence that has led to this change and what type of experimental evidence this was (single analysis of RNA expression levels of a gene under a certain condition, or array analysis using X method, or single analysis of protein expression levels of a protein under a certain condition). Annotation changes proposing a new function should be based on functional study of genes.

If you have any suggestions for improvements to this system, don't hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your participation!
